The Spectrum activated carbon block cartridges treat water by removing the bad taste, odour and appearance associated with chemical and organic pollutants. Contaminants such as chlorine, chloramine, herbicides, solvents and dyes are all treated along with the removal of organics through absorption. The cartridges contain a food grade coconut carbon block with higher efficiency and capacity to remove chlorine, chemical and organic taste, odour from tap water.
We recommend running the these 5 micron blocks, with the follow up of a QK Char cartridge, for the ultimate water purification.
– FDA compliant binders which ensures water does not bypass the carbon. Also peace of mind that nothing is leaching into the water from the binder used.
– WRAS approved cartridge ensuring the highest quality manufacturing technique.

– Filters down to 5 micron which optimises continued flow rate. Filtering below this is not simply not efficient in a Koi pond scenario.

Chlorine reduction statistics below has been tested at a Free Chlorine level of 2ppm, typical mains water can have 0.1 - 0.5 ppm so expect these cartridges to last much much longer than figures gives.
For example:
A 10" cartridge at a Free Chlorine level of 2ppm, with a flow rate of 3.8 litres per minute will last for 11,000 litres.
A 20" BB cartridge at a Free Chlorine level of 2ppm, with a flow rate of 15.1 litres per minute will last for 100,000 litres.
